I took these photos in Lyngør, Norway, the island town depicted in my book, including the stone house that inspired Ella’s cottage. Lyngør, nicknamed “the village in the sea,” includes four small auto-free islands with nautical white wood houses and heather-carpeted rocks. It was named Europe's best-preserved village in 1991.
